Happy Sunday! What does one wear when it’s so HOT out? I know it’s a struggle to keep cool while trying to be fashionable. The first thing that comes to my mind “sleeveless”.
Today I took the perfect little sleeveless summer dress and paired it with a Kimono. (I wore the same dress in a different pattern a few weeks ago). A Kimono can take a simple dress and turn it into something more stylish. I ♥love♥ how this look turned out.
Accessorizing was so easy too! I picked two colors from the Kimono and used those colors in my accessories. My necklace made a statement. I coordinated earrings and bangles to finish my jewelry look. My shoes had to be platform peep-toe heels for the greatest impact 😉 .
Style Tip: One way to make your necklace a statement piece, combine two for one look. If you really want to make a statement, combine two different colors which is what I did for this look.
My BAG today, an orange handbag with a detailed “X” pattern on the front flap in addition to a decorative gold clasp and chain. Perfect bag for this outfit.
Happy Sunday. You know you live in Texas when you experience two seasons in two days, LOL! I could have sworn it was summer on Saturday and today, well… I will leave it to your imagination.
When my mother passed away we didn’t keep a lot of her clothing. We gave them away to a family friend. We kept a few pieces, which I have in my possession.
Today’s outfit includes two of her things. My dress and purse. My mother has been gone for over a decade and this black sheath dress has never gone out of style. I wear it once or twice a year. No matter my size it always fits. Today I added a belt to take it in a bit (it was a little big). I also added a long mesh kimono for a more chic look.
Another Style Option: For a more tailored look, I could have added a blazer.
In addition to the belt, I wore a red and black scarf tied into a headband. It was so windy today, a headband seemed like a good idea. I kept the red going in two jewelry pieces, my necklace and earrings. Instead of the usual black or red pump, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to wear these black ankle boots with a RED flower applique, so chic! The pointy toe gave me life! 😉 .
My BAG as I mentioned was one of my mother’s. It’s a simple black cloth clutch (very old). It also has a short gold hand chain attached inside. I love how old things can become new again with a little ingenuity!
Happy Sunday everyone! Summer has arrived and I’m feeling the heat. My summer wardrobe will be renewed styling. How? I will mix and match some of my older summer wear with any new pieces I happen to pick up this season. The goal is to not break the bank, stay stylish and cool! no pun intended. 🙂
Today’s outfit is a combination of old and new. This one piece spaghetti jumpsuit deserves a second or even third wear. When old meets new it all becomes new again. The new is this colorful kimono. When I first saw it I knew how I would style it. It’s giving me a Japanese inspired look. This kimono can easily be paired with a skinny jean or shorts & tank, sundress, leggings and used as a swimsuit cover-up. The styling possibilities are endless.
My accessories consisted of my usual, earrings, necklace and bracelet. I chose open toe cork heels to not compete with the kimono. The kimono is so colorful it doesn’t need any help. BUT….
My BAG, OMG I am so obsessed with the Gaia’s Ark bamboo handbag. I didn’t hesitate to pair it with my kimono for a Japanese inspired look. Styling success! I’m so obsessed, don’t be surprised it you see it again and again…
Don’t hesitate to bring out the old and mix with something new!
