Holiday Party Attire

Tis the Season for those Holiday Parties… what are you going to wear?
Office holiday parties vary from business casual to dressy to formal. You want to be prepared for either. Hopefully this simple guide will help you achieve that perfect look. I get asked all the time ‘What should I wear to my holiday party?” Well it depends on the PARTY right!
Office parties that are held in the office during or after work tend to be business casual, you will be celebrating in what you actually wore to work. This is probably one of the easiest parties to dress for. On that day you can add a festive scarf, holiday pin or dress in traditional holiday colors of Red, Green, Black, Silver and Gold or any combination. You can also wear a holiday sweater (nothing ugly or obnoxious) but something softer like cashmere or with a little holiday sparkle.
Parties that take place outside the office usually mean you should step it up a bit. Although, they can still be business casual depending on the company vibes. More than likely its going to be a little bit dressier than an on-site office party.
The style of the announcement will usually let you know whether its casual, dressy, semi-formal or formal. Just be prepared.

We all know if the invitation reads dressy, semi-formal or formal attire you need to look your best.  Depending on your wardrobe you may have something in your closet that you can wear. Men a dark suit and tie will do just fine. Ladies if you have a little black dress or even a long black dress, you’re set. You can jazz it up with fabulous accessories that sparkle and shine. Easy right?
Formal attire usually calls for something long but not necessarily. Todays fashion has an array of short formal dresses, pantsuits and jumpsuits that will fit the occasion just fine. All you need to know… you shouldn’t wear jeans, tee-shirt, flip-flops or tennis shoes right? It’s all about elegance… And there is no need to break the bank!
Here are a some of my past and present “Holiday” looks ….

Sunday Look: Floral Holiday

Happy Sunday!  Here we go, its officially HOLIDAY TIME…  We have been busy trying to get the inside and outside all decked out for the holidays.  The only thing missing is the COOLER weather.  How are your decorating plans going?
Last December I opted to wear RED each Sunday to church.  I really didn’t make that commitment this year but somehow I started out in red again.  Today’s outfit featuring this all over floral maxi with a self-tie halter neck and elastic off-the-shoulder. This elastic is formed so you can wear it two ways.  If you prefer to wear it further up-on the shoulders you can (like in the feature photo at top).  I truly love the off-the-shoulder look.  I’ve said it many times, “a woman’s shoulders is the most beautiful feature on her body”.

When you have a self-tie halter neck there is no need for a necklace.  This girl is never without her earrings. I wore a pair with a sequence look detail.  You know me, I must always have a bangle or three LOL 😉 .  Today I had six!  Since I’m not very tall, every MAXI is way too long.  I always have to wear really high heel shoes so it doesn’t drag the ground.  Today I wore a black patent leather platform sling back with a 5 inch heel.  I bet you’re saying, “5 inches”.  Here’s a little secret, platforms can reduce the heel height by 2 inches sometimes.  So it feels like I was really wearing 3 inch heels 😉 .

What’s the perfect bag to carry when wearing a MAXI of this type?  A magazine clutch is what, nothing went better!  It’s very unexpected wouldn’t you say?

Sunday Look: Little Black Dress Fit-and-Flare

Happy Sunday!  It’s hard to believe this week will mark the beginning of the holiday season.  I’m not completely ready 🙂 .  Are you?
This morning when it came time to get dressed I pulled out something blue.  Then I remembered I wore blue last week.  I’m sometimes drawn to the same color week after week. I wonder what that means? Anyway, I put that to the side for another time.  I finally ended up in this sleeveless black fit-and-flare dress.

This dress has a beautifully textured fabric with the perfect V-neckline. There is something about the fit-and-flare dress that’s flirty and fun! (Not that I was trying to be) 😉 .  You can bet this holiday season’s “little black dress” is likely to be a soignee version of fit-and-flare.

The neckline is so inviting for the perfect necklace. And I just happened to have the perfect one!  As you can see this multi beaded pearl statement necklace fills in the space nicely.  I chose shoes in a black velvet (trending) with a round toe and bow.  I also added a pearl drop earring and two-toned bangle.

My bag today was my “bug bag” that’s what I call it because it has a big bug on the front.  It’s such a fun piece for any outfit.

I’m excited for the holidays and looking forward to the most “Wonderful time of the Year” I can’t wait to see what everyone will be wearing.

Happy Sunday, I hope it has been a great day for everyone.  Today I will keep it short, if you are like me you still have a house full of family.  Today’s outfit is the finale for this holiday season in RED.  I chose to wear a RED sheath dress with cape sleeves.  I kept my accessories simple with a clear stone necklace and red drop earrings.  My shoes were a satin red.   My BAG today was also a RED satin clutch.

Merry Christmas everyone…

Sunday Social: The Holiday Season in Red- Take Three

BABY ITS COLD OUTSIDE!!!!  It finally feels like Christmas Time.  That brings me to today’s outfit.  I’m dressed in HOLIDAY RED again…  You may think  you’re seeing double or did a double take when you saw today’s outfit.  I can explain, last week my blouse was the same print as my skirt.  I purchased the blouse along with three different color ball skirts in the same style.  Last week I wore the black skirt, today I’m in the RED/BLACK print skirt. These skirts are so dressy and scream HOLIDAY as I mentioned last week.

Today was Christmas Sweater Day at church.  I’m not really into Christmas Sweaters so I paired my skirt with a RED cardigan and back belt.  I left the buttons above the waist open. I wore a RED cami underneath the cardigan.  This gave me a two-piece look.  Since it was cold today, I wore a coat, YES I wore a coat! 🙂

I accessorized with the most perfect necklace.  It reminds me of an upside-down  snowman. Notice how it fits perfectly in the space above my cami.  I could not have planned a better placement.  Keeping with the Christmas theme added two holiday pins.  I also wore hoop earrings,  a huge single bangle and RED rings.  (I’m so addicted to my FITBIT I forgot to take it off)  Finishing off the look was black sheer hose and  black patent leather pointy toe pumps!

My BAG, keeping with the latest VELVET trend, I pulled out this VERY OLD BLACK VELVET hand bag.  Old is the new NEW…  It has the option of being a shoulder bag too. Love things with versatility…

Sunday Social: The Holiday Season in Red- Take Two

Happy Sunday! and the Holidays continue… in RED.  My favorite time of year.  What they say is true, it really is “The most wonderful time of year”.

Today I chose this lovely ball skirt with exposed zipper in back.  It makes a formal statement all by itself.  I paired it with a red and black long sleeve blouse.  The entire outfit screams HOLIDAYS… don’t you think?  The tulle underlining gives it just the right amount of poof, LOL…   AND it has pockets!

I have to honestly say I was torn as to which shoe I wanted to wear.  So many worked.  Two being a round toe RED platform and a BLACK satin pointed toe pump.  In the end I chose the RED BOTTOMS.  I couldn’t go wrong with either pair, they all looked really good.

Today’s accessories; I wore this large beaded necklace with bling and matching bling earrings.  After all it is the Holidays!

My BAG; as I was searching for the perfect bag this one appeared LOL… It was perfectly embellished with red and black bling beading.  It added that extra HOLIDAY touch.  Some of my other choices, black suede and a red woven fabric clutch.   But it was something about this one that stood out the most.   I love collecting clutches as you know.  It’s so nice to have a variety to choose from.  A girl can never have too many handbags 😉 .

Christmas is here… This is truly my favorite time of year.  Since this is the last Sunday before Christmas I thought it was more than appropriate to wear my Holiday Red.   I’ve been looking forward to dressing for the holiday.
My husband went a bit overboard with the photos today.   He loves me in red 😉  Red happens to be my favorite color.  This suit is perfect for “layered pearl strands”  in the words of Coco Chanel “A woman needs ropes and ropes of pearls”… it just adds a beautiful touch.  Notice how I threw in some green (purse) adding to that holiday feel.
I would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Safe Holiday.
