Sunday Look: Vertical Stripes

Happy Sunday! This month is flying outta here isn’t it? It’s time to start planning a vacation. I have no idea where we should go. I see all these different outfits that’s giving me so much inspiration. I’m feeling tropical. While I’m so ready to jet off somewhere, I’m also a bit scared. Just give me the vacation wardrobe!

Today’s outfit would be perfect for any vacation. The vertical stripes in this two piece top and pants (with pockets and attached belt) can be worn together like I’m wearing it with a simple front tuck or you can wear them separately. Just think, these two pieces are very versatile. You can easily get three different outfits. These pants look great with a white hi-low top and the top looks great with white jeans or shorts. And you know what they say “vertical stripes make you look thinner” I’m all for looking thinner 😉 .

No accessories are really needed for this outfit, BUT I had to accessorize. I felt like these silver ball drop earrings, silver disc necklace and my bangles dresses up an otherwise simple outfit. That’ the BEAUTI of versatility! I love how the white pointy toe pumps tie into the entire outfit.

My BAG, you’ve seen it before. I have this bag in a few different colors and It’s one of my go to Sunday bags. I love the chain detail.

What are your vacation plans?

Sunday Look: Sunshine

Hello and Happy Sunday… You can really tell Spring has sprung around here. We’ve had some pretty nice days and some hot ones too. It’s time we went full bloom.

Speaking of clothing, I have a couple of stories to share with you. I was in a retail store and saw a dress I really liked that was on the mannequin. I asked a floor attendant if they had it in stock. She said, “let me check” and asked me what size I needed. I said “a LARGE.” She came back with the dress and said, “I pulled you an EXTRA LARGE”. I didn’t ask for an extra large I asked for a LARGE! She pulled me a large and it fit perfectly. My question is this… Should she have pulled the size I asked for in the beginning? Was she calling me fat? I’m not so sure how I felt about it. Am I over exaggerating? What are your thoughts?

Second story. I was in a restaurant and a server dropped his tray and something splashed all over my new dress.  The server was apologetic and got me a hot, wet napkin to clean my dress. A few minutes later the manager comes over to see if I was successful in removing whatever they spilled from my dress. I have one question… What happened to giving the patron something for the mishap? They could have offered to clean my dress. They could have offered me a gift card, desert or something. I got nothing, just an apology. I guess I should be grateful for that! What do you think?

Let’s talk about today’s outfit. I was so excited about this yellow tiered sun dress. I loved the scalloped straps, they differ from your traditional spaghetti straps. I also felt it was appropriate for church, no need for a cover-up. The color is so vivid and screams Spring & Summer. This dress would look good with flat sandals as well.

I chose to accessorize with some fun, white, 3D earrings in the shape of a flower; paired with a flower necklace . I added three bangles for an added layer of color. My shoes really set off the entire outfit. The colorful floral fabric jumped out at you immediately. Such a great look!

My BAG today was also an added pop of color. I chose a green handbag with a gold strap. The green bag pulled out the green in my shoe.

Sunday Look: Mother’s Day 2019

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers, grandmother’s and mother figures!  I’m so blessed to be the mother of two very wonderful children, Darwin and Tarryn.  With the help of my husband we truly raised two incredible humans.

Mothers Day is always hard for me.  I say I’m not going to cry and end up doing so anyway.  It mostly happens at church, especially when the men sing “Mama”  I totally break down.  I miss my mother!

My Sweet Mama

I will keep today’s post short.  Oh! when I tell you I struggled last night trying to find something to wear on this special day “Mother’s Day”.  Let’s just say nothing fit 😉 .  Reality ladies, reality.

Today’s outfit was a tent dress.  I’ve worn one of these before.  I love the off-the-shoulder look the most.  You know my saying; “A woman’s shoulders are the most beautiful part of her body”.  It doesn’t hurt that this dress has pockets either.

Accessorizing was soooo simple.  Long silver and white earrings, with a charmless silver choker.  I loaded up on silver bangles, can’t get enough.  I chose a high heel pump with a very pointy toe and spikes all around.  I’ve been itching to wear this shoe for over a year now.  Today was the perfect day to rock them!

My handbag was special. A gift from my husband.  A large colorful clutch, that can be worn with just about any color.  It was a great compliment to my outfit.

This is what makes me a mom and grandmother!

Sunday Look: Navy & Pink

Hello and Happy Sunday…. It has been a while. So much has happened over the last few weeks. The saddest being our little feisty dog “Winston”, passed away, he was with us for almost 15 years. Talk about hard, it was such a traumatic experience that we have decided to NOT get another pet. We miss him so much and think about him everyday. 🙁

WINSTON

On to happier times…. Spring is in full bloom and while I haven’t worn a lot of Spring fashions I’m ready. I’m so behind on my manicure and pedicure. Speaking of manicures, I’ve really started to embrace the Spring like colors. I’ve always adored colorful nails on everyone else and wondered if I would ever go down that road. I did and I love it! Stay tuned for my next color choice. Today’s outfit was part of a theme. It was “Women’s Day” at church, the colors were navy and pink.

I wasn’t about to go out and purchase an outfit just for today. I knew I had to have something in my closet that fit the theme. I decided on a navy pant suit with a pink top. I have a funny story about this pant suit. I purchased it twice, yep I did. Luckily I was able to return it when I realized the duplicate. I’ve never done that before. I must really like it I guess. 😉

The matching suit features a slim leg pant with pockets and a tie belt. The jacket is a tuxedo style jacket with not buttons. It has three-quarter length sleeves that are gathered in the back. It’s very light weight and perfect for Springtime. This suit is very professional, fitting for the office or boardroom. I incorporated pink with a sleeveless top with attached tie for knotting or bow. I just tied a bow.

Accessorizing was simple. Pink ball earrings with a touch of bling was all I needed. The tie served as a necklace. I wore a very textured high heel pump that incorporated a variety of colors including pink. All I had left to do was pick a handbag. I went for a colorful little bag that went well with the entire outfit. Simple styling is the best. 🙂 🙂

Style Tip: If you are short in stature like me, you will find that most slacks are too long. These were, I didn’t like the gathering at the ankle. I simply turned the hem up one time. Perfect length !

Sunday Look: Vintage Tea

Happy Sunday…. Man what a rainy weekend we’ve had. When I say it has been pouring buckets, I’m not kidding. I had to cancel plans on Saturday due to the weather. So, what did I do? I played dress-up in my closet. If you need something to do on a rainy day, try playing dress-up.

This morning was raining buckets again. Even though I decided last night what I was going to wear, I almost changed my mind because of the rain. I almost went super casual by putting on jeans and rain boots.

So let me spill the tea about today’s outfit. It was all about the top, I really didn’t want to waste it on jeans for the first time. As I was playing dress-up yesterday, I decided on these black palazzo pants (with pockets) to pair with this rose colored, very detailed vintage tiered lace top, featuring tiny like pom poms. The added detail of ruffled sleeves with the same tiny pom pom details and high neckline added to the vintage feel.

I played off the tiny pom poms in my accessories. I had these multi strand pom pom earrings with a matching necklace. I was like, this is the perfect combination! I love when that happens 🙂 . My palazzo pants are pretty long, I needed a high heel shoe so they wouldn’t drag the ground (especially in the rain). I chose a simple pointy toe heel.

I wanted my BAG to be equally as fun. I pulled out a round handbag with fringe details.

This top can be toned down by pairing it with a pair of black jeans. Exploring the possibilities could be fun.

Sunday Look: Suit

Happy Sunday… What in the world is going on? I was so sure our Texas Spring had arrived. Little did I know we would have another cool spell. I’m not complaining, but man I wasn’t prepared mentally.

What does one wear when the weather surprises you and it’s 5th Sunday? LOL! Glad you asked. I had to defer for sure. How about a “suit” not only was it the perfect “suit” but it gave me the added warmth I needed for our surprisingly lower temperatures.

The plaid and floral mix textured fabric made a fantastic looking suit dress. Being double-breasted made it even dressier. There is something about this “suit” that makes me feel so put together 😉 . This dress can go from the church house to the boardroom.

When I started to accessorize of course I started out with pearls. Then I was like, that’s so expected. I’ve always loved my long beaded blue knotted necklace. Late last night I threw it around the hanger and I liked it! It wasn’t until this morning I saw how perfect it really was. I found some bling ear-bobs (as my mother use to call them) to add to the sparkle. Electric blue pumps took it to the max 🙂 .

My BAG today was special (a gift from my husband) a crocodile clutch with optional shoulder chain. It was a great addition to the final look. When you know, you know!

Until next time...

Sunday Look: Jumpsuit Season

Happy Sunday….. Welcome to S*P*R*I*N*G, we’ve finally come full circle. I think the worst is over now and we can all settle in and enjoy what’s to come.

It’s jumpsuit season and shoulder season. So pull out those jumpsuits, rompers and off-the-shoulder outfits. It’s time…

Today’s outfit, a two for one. A jumpsuit that’s off-the-shoulder. This particular one is Springy with all the floral print. I guess I got a three for one 😉 . This jumpsuit features a wide leg, popover bodice and elastic neckline. I purchased this jumpsuit last Spring, but never got to wear it. I plan on shopping my closet more, stay tuned to see what I pull out next 😉 . It’s all new to me if I pull the tag off for the first time!

Today’s accessories were very understated. A jumpsuit this colorful is enough to stand on its own. I kept the earring muted as well as the choker. My first thought was to not wear anything around my neck, which would’ve been perfectly fine. When wearing off-the-shoulder outfits, your shoulders are sometimes enough. I did add two colorful bangles, a must for me 🙂 . I decided to pull out the orange color in the jumpsuit with a deep orange high heel platform sandal.

My BAG today was an orange flap shoulder bag with gold hardware.

This outfit was effortless to style. Style should be effortless.

Sunday Look: It’s A Wrap “Jumpsuit”

Happy Sunday… and Happy St. Patrick’s Day to all that celebrate. Another week in the books. This month is moving quickly. Next week Winter will be over and Spring will hopefully show up in its place. I’m already there in my mind. Pretty sure we have a few more Winter episodes lurking in the background. I’m not waiting, I’ve already started my Spring wardrobe.

Today I chose a floral wrap jumpsuit with a keyhole front. I had to make that keyhole church appropriate by wearing a cami underneath. I love the uniqueness of this jumpsuit. The legs wrap around and to my surprise it gives you a MAJOR split when you sit down, oops! Trust me, I was able to keep it classy 🙂 . I can wear this jumpsuit out on the town and be sexy with my high splits 😉 .

Remember how I always say you should pull out one or two colors in your outfit. My first choice was to pull out the orange or yellow. I went with the yellow (mustard) I’m calling it. I found the perfect mustard color earrings, I felt like I needed to make a statement somewhere. I could have done that with a necklace but that’s always expected “the statement necklace”. I kept the necklace in the same color pallet, but understated. Can we talk about these shoes for a second. They are beyond perfect! The mustard color accented perfectly and the velvet added another texture to the entire outfit.

My BAG, a round bamboo shoulder bag. It was the icing, point, blank, period! It added yet another element of texture. I can’t think of a better choice.

This entire outfit has so many layers of different textures, from the earrings, to the shoes, to the bag. It all just works.

Get ready people, Spring is coming so let the color popping begin!

Sunday Look: Spring Beginnings

Hello and Happy Sunday!  I’ve found myself to be in a bit of a slump.  Sometimes life grabs you by the horns and try to drag you down.

Has this weather been crazy or what?  All this back and forth of cool weather then hot.  I’m over it!  I decided to bring in Spring early with today’s outfit.  Yes, I’m saying bring on Spring.  You all know I LOVE me some cold weather, but the inconsistency of it all…. 🙁 .  I love me some winter clothing.

Today’s outfit was wishful thinking that Spring is well on its way.  I’ve worn this floral print skirt before.  The burst of blooms against the black background makes a colorful statement.  Paired with a burgundy loose fitting top with full pleated layers on the sleeves. Guys, I have this top in three different colors.  I purchased a green one last summer.  At the end of the season last year, I found a black one and this burgundy one I’m wearing today on the clearance rack.  There was no way I could leave them there.  I got two for less than I paid for one 🙂 .

Today’s accessories was non other than rose gold.  Every piece from my earrings, necklace, watch and bangles was rose gold.  I thought it paired superbly with the burgundy.   I couldn’t have chosen a better shoe either.  The burgundy sock booties really set off the entire outfit.  This is probably the last time I will get to wear them this season.  Great way to end this thing they call Winter, LOL !!!

My BAG today was a deep burgundy velvet shoulder bag with gold trim.  Sometimes it’s not good to repeat the same color scheme over and over.  This worked because of the deep burgundy, it stood out on its own.  Love the entire look.  I felt good today!

I didn’t Blog last week so I thought I would include last weeks Sunday Look.  I wore a bright lime green long vest with cream colored slacks and top.  My shoes and bag popped in the same color green.  Loved this outfit too.

Sunday Look: Stripe Tent Dress

Hello guys! Happy Sunday…. It’s been a while since I’ve shared.  I was down for a while with bronchitis and asthma. I didn’t bounce back quickly. I’m so happy all of that is over, thank God.

Last night I picked out a few things to wear today. You never know what the weather is going to do around here 🙂 . I wasn’t sure what I was going to wear until this morning. I picked this long sleeve plum and grey stripe tent dress that I’ve had for a couple of years. Actually, everything I’m wearing today is at least a couple of years old.

The dress hits right above the knee. I had always planned on wearing knee high boots with this dress.  This style dress is perfect for a knee high boot.  For a finished look I opted to wear plum/purple tights. I chose a long grey necklace, beaded earrings and bracelet for my jewelry pieces.

My BAG today was a small beaded bag with a long linked chain. It was the perfect little understated shoulder bag for this outfit. This bag is very old, about ten years or so.

I’ve been trying to think of a ways to get the most out of my wardrobe.  I’m thinking about doing a series of Blogs where I will be wearing an outfit for a second time. I will change it up with accessories. In addition to extending my wardrobe it will save money too 😉  .  I’m up for the challenge, should be FUN.
