Sunday Look: Trench Dress

Hello! Hope you guys are well in addition to being safe in the mist of Covid!  We’v all managed to stay well, praise God for his blessings.  Quite a bit has happened since I last blogged.  Mainly, one of our granddaughters left for college.  When I tell you I was so emotional the night before she left (we celebrated her 18th birthday) and the day of.  I didn’t know I had that many tears.  I miss that little face already.  I’m proud of her accomplishments. Literally counting the days until I see her again. Let me stop before I start crying again… we also celebrated the baby granddaughter’s birthday too!
Have you ever purchased something and forgot about it? Of course you have.  I’m notorious for doing so.  I purchased this dress three or four months ago.  Somehow it hit me, “where is that dress”.  In the back of my mind, I’m wondering, will it still fit.
It’s a very simple wrap trench dress.  Linen fabric and lined, accessorized very simply.  Sometimes simple is enough.  No pockets, which was the first thing I searched for.  I (we) love pockets don’t we 🙂 .   I also love Linen, but once the wrinkles set in, they make a crisp clean look go from good to, well you know…  But, that’s the nature of the fabric.

We made a stop at a nearby park on the way home.  I wasn’t planning on doing a Blog post today.  I thought I would get one pic and move on.  Well, my photographer had other ideas.  I had to do something with the pics.  We were fortunate enough to get a picture together today.  Yes we match!   We also played good samaritan, we found someone’s money clip and returned it to them. Today was a good day 🙂

Sunday Look: Ruffle Square Neck Jumpsuit

Hey guys! A little MIA the last couple of weeks after I said I was hoping to do regular Blog Posts.  All I want to do is get out of my clothes after I finish lunch.  We always have lunch or brunch immediately after church.  By the time I get home it’s hard to take a photo sometimes 😉 .
This past week we celebrated our daughters 36th birthday.  Her celebrations turn into full blown outings.  We celebrated in our normal (family) fashion with food and fun!   It was nice to see the family all dressed up!
The Birthday Girl and I
Todays outfit was fitting for backyard photos.  All I need to do is take off the heels and I’m ready to lounge by the pool.  Everything is so colorful and I enjoy looking at Gods creations.

I chose this black jumpsuit with thin straps  and wide legs.  It has pockets!  It’s linen and viscose of course,  you know me and linen in the summertime.  I love this mix of linen and viscose it doesn’t wrinkle as much.
(This jumpsuit runs large, I would size down if you plan on purchasing)

I was excited to accessorize with a matching set of earrings and ring I recently purchased.  It paired well with the black.
My bag today was a black monogram tote.

Sunday Look: The Reality of a Pandemic “Kaftan”

Hello everyone, I certainly hope this post finds you happy, healthy and doing well.  I don’t know about you, but this PANDEMIC has been hard on me.  I’ve pretty much been hibernating since March.
I’m going to be transparent.  I find it hard to get dressed most days.  Who knew that my love of fashion, jewelry, make-up and taking photos would dwindle as it has.  Honestly, I don’t care about any of it anymore.  You all know I love my heels, nope, not even bothering going upstairs to my closet that I took so much pride in designing and showcasing all my beautiful things.

Just when I was trying to build my brand the Pandemic hits and it hit me very hard.  How do I recover? I have no clue how to bounce back.  I admire the women I see on social media all dolled up. I don’t know how they do it. I do, but I don’t.

I’ve been wearing a mask since March, that means no lipstick or make-up.  Why bother when all its going to do is smear and dirty your mask.  You can’t see it anyways.  The one thing I do, eyeliner because that’s the only thing that shows.  Some days I don’t do that.

I’ve been carrying the same crossbody bag since March.  I have no desire to carry my designer handbags nor do I want to expose them to this virus.  I will never place my handbags in another grocery cart.

I pride myself in my jewelry choices, again, NOPE… I’ve only worn earrings.  They were saying if you wore jewelry (rings, watches and bracelets) when you washed your hands it was possible to miss areas. So I don’t.

I’m not buying anything (besides groceries).  I take that back, I purchased this Kaftan almost three months ago (online). I decided with encouragement from my children to wear it or something. I purchased a pair of sandals (online) about the same time.  I left them in my cart for weeks.  My current mindset, why purchase, I’m not going anywhere. Plus, plus, I need a pedicure 🙂 .  I wore the sandals for the first time last week.  I also purchased a necklace (online) that I haven’t worn yet.  And that’s it since March.

What are you buying if anything?  I know the retailers have to be hurting.
When this first started I said “oh, I’m going to have the most stylish masks out there”.  Wrong again, I have one kente cloth mask, the rest are simple solids of grey and blue.
I miss going to church.  My church has started having services again twice a month. But with the infected numbers being so high and no vaccine, we can’t take that change on our health.  We are at the age where we have to be cautious.  I miss eating out, every Sunday we had a standing brunch with our close friends.  I miss date nights that consisted of going out to eat, going to the movies and hanging out with friends.

I know, this too shall pass. I know many are feeling the same way or worse.  I’m grateful I didn’t have to quarantine alone and that I’m not alone.  I’m grateful I had some household projects I had to oversee.  This gave me something else to focus on.  You know, that just may be the answer for those that are struggling. Find something else to focus on to better occupy your time.
My son called me today and told me I needed to continue my Sunday Look. I thought I would take his advice and give you the old me with my “Sunday Look” Even though it was a struggle to get all dolled up, I did it for you!  I’m going to make an effort to do better. I felt good!!!  I don’t look like what I’m going through.
That’s all, I just wanted to stop by, say hello and let you know how I’ve been doing during this PANDEMIC.  I would love to know how you’r doing.  Stay safe, stay well.  Wear your mask, wash your hands.

Sunday Look: Final Leather Days

Happy Sunday!  Wow, what a difference a week makes.  The Coronavirus (Covid-19) has changed the world we live-in right now!  Please, please follow what the CDC has recommend.  All of our lives depend on it.

Today was an unexpected cool day.  I was so shocked when I stepped outside.  Y’all know I love the cooler weather.  That prompted a whole wardrobe change. I was completely dressed, ready to go and changed 🙂 . So  happy  I did!

The “Abagail Leather Dress” I honestly wondered if I was going to be able to wear it at all this season.  I love (real) Leather, although I never wear it.  I pondered buying this dress for three years.  I finally bit the bullet and purchased it.  This is why I jumped at the chance to wear it today. This particular dress is sold out for now. Grab it next Fall/Winter season. You won’t be disappointed.

Not much is needed when wearing Leather. It’s such a rich fabric that can stand alone.  Of course I wanted to jazz it up a bit.  I did so by adding a lion faced statement necklace, black sequence earrings and black leather pumps.

My BAG today, a black crossbody in faux leather, quilted and chain framed. (I shortened the chain to carry as a handbag) This bag has a wear-with-anything appeal.

Sunday Look: Jumpsuit, It’s a Wrap

Happy Sunday!  Who else is sleepy?  I’m really feeling that lost hour of sleep.  Today happens to be “International Women’s Day”. Cheers to all the trailblazers that have led the way.

Even though I was very sleepy this morning, I managed to put together the first thing I pulled out. This Currant colored wrap jumpsuit. The lantern sleeves and wide legs allows for a beautiful flow. The contrast stitching highlights the entire jumpsuit, especially the tie belt.

The contrast stitching made accessorizing a breeze. I adorned my face with very large glittery hoop earrings and disc necklace.  But the show stopper had to be the white boots.  Yah, yah you can wear white in the Winter!  Trust me I tried regular pumps and high heel sandals.   When you know, you know.  And I know these white boots were the right choice to bring this look to LIFE.

My BAG today, a magazine clutch!

I want to give a special shout-out to my favorite photographer, my husband Mr. Rick.  He is very supportive, scouts different locations, guides and direct me on every photoshoot Image result for kissy lips .

Sunday Look: Split Back Houndstooth Cape Dress

Happy Sunday! Did we enjoy that extra day in February? Good-bye Leap Year!  Hello March. Spring is right around the corner.  There’s no stopping it now.  Like years past, I failed to maximize my closest.  Mostly because we don’t have heavy Winters and I have quite a few heavy Winter clothing.  Don’t ask me why, especially knowing I live in Texas.  It really makes it hard to maximize your closet.  Take today for instance. It was a Spring-like day, even though we are still in Winter.

I have the habit of bulk shopping and may not wear an outfit right away.  I’m trying to break that habit. 😉 .

Today’s outfit is giving me old Hollywood Glam. I wore a split back houndstooth cape dress.  Guys, I love the fit and style of this dress. It’s so elegant and can be worn to any special occasion.  Not only is houndstooth one of my favorite prints, but when you mix it with a cape, bodycon/pencil skirt type fit, I’m here for it all.  There are only a few smaller sizes left in this dress.  Grab it!

In keeping with the elegant look I was going for, I accessorized with pearls.  A long strand of pearls looped and a second multi-strand pearl necklace gave a major layered effect. Next, pearl beaded earrings.  Patent leather pointy toe heels added to the look.

My BAG; I have to be honest, I struggled between this houndstooth bag and a solid black patent leather bag.  Both worked.  I just felt some type of way about the houndstooth bag.  It’s certainly unexpected!  And I like to push the unexpected!

Sunday Look: Triple Hiss

Happy Sunday Guys! Can you believe we are approaching the last week of February? It will be Spring before we know it.  This weather has certainly been a roller coaster of temperatures, (up and down).  Some nights we find ourselves sitting at our grand daughter’s soccer game all wrapped up in blankets to sitting in the stands dressed in long sleeves watching our other grand daughter participate in a cheerleader showcase.  That’s Texas weather!  Today’s weather was perfect for an outdoor photoshoot.

Today’s outfit “Triple Hiss”  Why? Because I’m wearing triple reptile prints.  My jumpsuit, shoes and handbag all reptile print.  I was really excited to try it.  I love how all the different prints tie-in together.  I don’t follow any rules, If I  like it, I wear it…

The jumpsuit is from last season (no longer available) bold reptile print showcases wide short sleeves and a belted waist.

Accessorizing was so easy.  I immediately went for the reptile bootie.  I love the contrast of the two prints together.  I could have easily chosen a black heel, how boring is that? 😉 .  I did pair black beaded bow earrings and a beaded necklace.

My BAG today, a reptile print box clutch/shoulder-bag. Again the reptile print was a nice contrast to the jumpsuit and booties.

Sunday Look: Heritage Sunday- An African Celebration

Hello, Happy Sunday!  I hope everyone enjoyed their Valentine Weekend.  I sure did. The husband and I managed to snag a dinner reservation at the last minute. I skipped last weeks Blog Post, the dress I wore was previously blogged back in December of 2016, it still fit! ↓↓

Last October, I walked in a fashion show wearing a local designers African Clothing.  I was able to purchase a few pieces afterwards.  I wore one of the pieces for my birthday photoshoot last month.  This dress is called “Apuk”. ↓↓

Every February our church celebrates Heritage Sunday. It’s such an exciting time.  Today we had African Dancers accompanied by drummers. And a sermon fitting for the occasion. That brings me to today’s outfit. It was originally suppose to be a two piece pant suit.  Unfortunately the pants were too big (I guess I lost a few pounds since I purchased it).  I searched my closet to find something that would work with the jacket. I remembered I had this little green dress from a few years ago that I’d never worn.  I was wowed at how the two went together.  I took the sash from the jacket and used it as a high-waist tie on the dress. Instant gratification!

The accessories had to fit the occasion.  I always try to pull out one color in the fabric to accessorize.  Round disc earrings and my go-to wooden multi-colored beaded necklace paired ever so lovely.  I didn’t have green heels, (which I think would look amazing) I opted for a neutral high heel pump.  I love when the unexpected comes together.

My BAG, an Ark shaped bamboo handbag finished the look.

Sunday Look: Utility Jumpsuit

Happy Super Sunday! Today is the day, Super Bowl Sunday… No big party plans over here.  Just me and the husband hanging out. Did you know that today’s date is a rare eight-digit palindrome (reads the same, forward and backward), 02/02/2020 — the only one of its kind this century!

I usually designate Super Bowl Sunday as a casual or dress down kinda day.  I did that (I think) in this Utility Jumpsuit.  This jumpsuit reminded me of my childhood.  My uncle wore a utility Jumpsuit all the time.  I think my dad did too.  It has all the components, front zipper, utility pockets and elastic waist with an attached belt. Upon first look, you either like it or you hate it, that was my first impression.  In order to settle that argument in my head, I had to try it on.  Surprisingly, I loved it!  It’s very comfortable, the fabric has the feel of suede.  The print is a snake skin.  I’m wearing a medium.

This jumpsuit can be styled so many different ways.  I was going for a semi casual look.  I accessorized light today.  Only wearing large gold hoop earrings with pearls and a gold choker.  My shoes made it dressy.  Yes. I mixed my prints.  Animal print heels went so well with the golden color of the fabric.  I consider animal print a neutral, which means it goes with anything. NO RULES…

My BAG, a small black suede handbag with a colorful tie enter-twined between the chain handle.

Sunday Look: Green Ribbed Dress

Happy Sunday Guys!  How can this be the last Sunday in January?  It’s been a long month.  Still one of my favorite months of the year. It’s going to be hard to say good-bye to my celebration month.  Looking forward to Valentines ♥.

Our weekend started off full of fun and involved really dressing up!  We had the pleasure of attending a Black Tie Gala honoring our Pastor’s 15th Anniversary.  It was a great night to honor our Pastor, dine and mingle with our brothers and sisters in Christ.  Dressing up in our finest added to the occasion.

Today’s outfit is rather simple. This ribbed high collar dress happens to be 95% Ecologically Grown Cotton. A cotton grown using practices that help protect biodiversity.   I’m happy to do my part for our environment. You won’t believe the price either!  If you want it, hurry not many sizes left.

Notice the accessories? Give me a minute and I will address it. For starters, this color pairs well with silver.  Since there was no secondary color to pull from, I opted for silver jewelry and white studded ankle boots.  YES, white boots! Forget about that old cliche’ of not wearing white after Labor Day.  Trust me, it’s ok and still trending in 2020!

I purchased the boots around the November timeframe from Macy’s “Last Act Sale”.  I will add two links where to get similar pairs below.

My BAG, a winter white, faux reptile clutch trimmed with a little bit of black and silver. Nailed it!  How simple is this entire outfit?  I love effortless dressing.
