Sunday Look: Trench Dress

Hello! Hope you guys are well in addition to being safe in the mist of Covid!  We’v all managed to stay well, praise God for his blessings.  Quite a bit has happened since I last blogged.  Mainly, one of our granddaughters left for college.  When I tell you I was so emotional the night before she left (we celebrated her 18th birthday) and the day of.  I didn’t know I had that many tears.  I miss that little face already.  I’m proud of her accomplishments. Literally counting the days until I see her again. Let me stop before I start crying again… we also celebrated the baby granddaughter’s birthday too!
Have you ever purchased something and forgot about it? Of course you have.  I’m notorious for doing so.  I purchased this dress three or four months ago.  Somehow it hit me, “where is that dress”.  In the back of my mind, I’m wondering, will it still fit.
It’s a very simple wrap trench dress.  Linen fabric and lined, accessorized very simply.  Sometimes simple is enough.  No pockets, which was the first thing I searched for.  I (we) love pockets don’t we 🙂 .   I also love Linen, but once the wrinkles set in, they make a crisp clean look go from good to, well you know…  But, that’s the nature of the fabric.

We made a stop at a nearby park on the way home.  I wasn’t planning on doing a Blog post today.  I thought I would get one pic and move on.  Well, my photographer had other ideas.  I had to do something with the pics.  We were fortunate enough to get a picture together today.  Yes we match!   We also played good samaritan, we found someone’s money clip and returned it to them. Today was a good day 🙂

School is starting and I pray that God not only keep my grand-girls safe but all the children and teachers returning to school.  We have a freshman and 5th grader!

Sunday Look: Ruffle Square Neck Jumpsuit

Hey guys! A little MIA the last couple of weeks after I said I was hoping to do regular Blog Posts.  All I want to do is get out of my clothes after I finish lunch.  We always have lunch or brunch immediately after church.  By the time I get home it’s hard to take a photo sometimes 😉 .
This past week we celebrated our daughters 36th birthday.  Her celebrations turn into full blown outings.  We celebrated in our normal (family) fashion with food and fun!   It was nice to see the family all dressed up!
The Birthday Girl and I
Todays outfit was fitting for backyard photos.  All I need to do is take off the heels and I’m ready to lounge by the pool.  Everything is so colorful and I enjoy looking at Gods creations.

I chose this black jumpsuit with thin straps  and wide legs.  It has pockets!  It’s linen and viscose of course,  you know me and linen in the summertime.  I love this mix of linen and viscose it doesn’t wrinkle as much.
(This jumpsuit runs large, I would size down if you plan on purchasing)

I was excited to accessorize with a matching set of earrings and ring I recently purchased.  It paired well with the black.
My bag today was a black monogram tote.

Sunday Look: The Reality of a Pandemic “Kaftan”

Hello everyone, I certainly hope this post finds you happy, healthy and doing well.  I don’t know about you, but this PANDEMIC has been hard on me.  I’ve pretty much been hibernating since March.
I’m going to be transparent.  I find it hard to get dressed most days.  Who knew that my love of fashion, jewelry, make-up and taking photos would dwindle as it has.  Honestly, I don’t care about any of it anymore.  You all know I love my heels, nope, not even bothering going upstairs to my closet that I took so much pride in designing and showcasing all my beautiful things.

Just when I was trying to build my brand the Pandemic hits and it hit me very hard.  How do I recover? I have no clue how to bounce back.  I admire the women I see on social media all dolled up. I don’t know how they do it. I do, but I don’t.

I’ve been wearing a mask since March, that means no lipstick or make-up.  Why bother when all its going to do is smear and dirty your mask.  You can’t see it anyways.  The one thing I do, eyeliner because that’s the only thing that shows.  Some days I don’t do that.

I’ve been carrying the same crossbody bag since March.  I have no desire to carry my designer handbags nor do I want to expose them to this virus.  I will never place my handbags in another grocery cart.

I pride myself in my jewelry choices, again, NOPE… I’ve only worn earrings.  They were saying if you wore jewelry (rings, watches and bracelets) when you washed your hands it was possible to miss areas. So I don’t.

I’m not buying anything (besides groceries).  I take that back, I purchased this Kaftan almost three months ago (online). I decided with encouragement from my children to wear it or something. I purchased a pair of sandals (online) about the same time.  I left them in my cart for weeks.  My current mindset, why purchase, I’m not going anywhere. Plus, plus, I need a pedicure 🙂 .  I wore the sandals for the first time last week.  I also purchased a necklace (online) that I haven’t worn yet.  And that’s it since March.

What are you buying if anything?  I know the retailers have to be hurting.
When this first started I said “oh, I’m going to have the most stylish masks out there”.  Wrong again, I have one kente cloth mask, the rest are simple solids of grey and blue.
I miss going to church.  My church has started having services again twice a month. But with the infected numbers being so high and no vaccine, we can’t take that change on our health.  We are at the age where we have to be cautious.  I miss eating out, every Sunday we had a standing brunch with our close friends.  I miss date nights that consisted of going out to eat, going to the movies and hanging out with friends.

I know, this too shall pass. I know many are feeling the same way or worse.  I’m grateful I didn’t have to quarantine alone and that I’m not alone.  I’m grateful I had some household projects I had to oversee.  This gave me something else to focus on.  You know, that just may be the answer for those that are struggling. Find something else to focus on to better occupy your time.
My son called me today and told me I needed to continue my Sunday Look. I thought I would take his advice and give you the old me with my “Sunday Look” Even though it was a struggle to get all dolled up, I did it for you!  I’m going to make an effort to do better. I felt good!!!  I don’t look like what I’m going through.
That’s all, I just wanted to stop by, say hello and let you know how I’ve been doing during this PANDEMIC.  I would love to know how you’r doing.  Stay safe, stay well.  Wear your mask, wash your hands.

Sunday Look: Tassel Dress

Hello and Happy Sunday! I know, I know its been a while. I haven’t done a blog post since early July. So much has been happening in my life, I couldn’t find the time to just sit. I won’t bore you with all the details. Let me just say, God is Good.

The other day I thought I broke my toe. I hit the leg of a chair. I’ve walked by that chair a million times and we finally met one another . All I could think about was how am I going to wear heels on Sunday. I iced like there was no tomorrow. It worked ( or it’s not really broken) because it feels so much better with very little swelling remaining. I’m so thankful it wasn’t worse. And yes, I did wear my heels today!

This Texas Summer heat we are experiencing is no joke. We have been as high as 105 degrees with a heat index of 110 degrees plus. I swear, it’s a struggle walking from the car into the building sometimes. I’ve lived in Texas all my life and I can never get acclimated to this heat.

Speaking of heat, my wardrobe has been about keeping as cool as possible. I will share my cool past Sunday looks at the end.

Today’s look was rather simple in a basic black tunic dress with a round neck, a ton of tassels around the sleeves and hem. The fabric is very lightweight and can take me straight into the Fall.

I accessorized with black earrings and a Lucite block necklace. Let’s talk about this necklace. When I first saw it at White House Black Market I had to have it. The price was a little bit more than what I would normally pay being that I am a bargain shopper and all. But, I treated myself nonetheless.  Strappy, block high heel sandals finished the look. You already know, bangles had to make an appearance. Paired the outfit with a black croc bag.

Sunday Look: A Softer Side

Happy Sunday! I know, I know its been a few weeks since I’ve been in front of the computer screen. Happy to share with you again. Sunday is my favorite day of the week to dress-up as you can see 😉 . Even though I dress-up during the week, it’s nothing like Sunday dressing. The dressing-up on Sunday thing started when I was a little girl. My mother always dressed-up my sisters and I on Sundays. Oh! how I remember the plaid dresses and long socks with our patent leather shoes. Ribbons, upon ribbons in our hair. This tradition goes back many years. I can remember my mother wearing those pointy toe kitten heels and ear bobs, as she called them. Great memories!

My dress today was chosen by my husband while out shopping. I didn’t try it on until we got home, it didn’t fit (it wouldn’t zip). I decided to keep it. I needed to drop a few LB’s anyway. Fast forward three weeks later, it fits! I’m not saying I lost any weight, but something happened 🙂 and I’m happy about it!

Yellow is one of my favorite Summer colors. I think it does something for my complexion. This floral dress is so soft and I simply love the silhouette. It’s so girly and SOFT looking. Anything with pockets and a sash is OK with me. I wanted to keep my entire look soft by adding pearls to the mix. Nothing is softer than pearls. I kept that softness down to my feet by wearing a cream strappy heels.

My BAG today was a straw clutch. I felt like it was just as soft and a great accompaniment to my entire outfit.

Sunday Look: Dot Print Jumpsuit

Hello, Happy Sunday and Happy Father’s Day! I want to get real for a moment. As I get older I see my body changing. Whether it’s a little bulge here or a sag there. I’ve learned to embrace some of my body flaws. Honestly, it wasn’t easy in the beginning. You know what, it is, what it is! After-all this is who I’m meant to be, this is me! Admittedly, some clothing, no matter how much we love an outfit, it may show off a few of those flaws. I may be able to do something about a few of them, others not so much. That’s okay. I’m looking for some kind exercise regimen to tie up loose ends LOL 🙂 🙂

My outfit today falls into that classic black and white category. I love this jumpsuit! I think I was drawn to the graphic white polka dots against the black background more than anything. The self tie belt allows you to tie a knot or do a one loop bow like I did. You can also use the belt as a headband.

The scoop-neck allowed me to accessorize with a long necklace. I chose a beaded pearl tear drop necklace. I kept the earrings simple in a round pearl ball mimicking the white polka dots. A single white bangle added another layer. Considering how short I am, and how long this jumpsuit is, I had to wear my tallest heels. I wore white platform super high heeled open toe shoes.

My BAG today was a white tote with a round black handle. It was the perfect piece against the graphic background.

Sunday Look: Rainy Sunday in September

Happy Sunday! Hello to a rainy Sunday in September.  Even though it’s still Summer I can feel a change coming especially with the rain.  I’m so excited!  It seems like when September rolls around most folks jump into Fall mode immediately.  Granted some states are experiencing cooler temperatures, not here!  I’ve noticed people wearing darker colors too.  Not me, it’s still Summer and pretty warm…  I will continue my summer wear and color pallet for a little while longer even though I can’t wait for some COOLER weather.
Today’s outfit served two purposes.  It was raining this morning and it’s still hot (summer).  I deviated from what I was planning on wearing because of the rain.  At the last minute I decided to throw on some (dressy) ankle length denim slacks and a colorful sleeveless shell with faux pearl details around the neckline.  Putting these two together allowed me to be somewhat dressier than I would have been in a regular pair of denim jeans.

It’s so easy to take a simple outfit like this and dress it up by adding the perfect accessories.  I played off the color of the shell and the pearl detail by adding long silver/pearl earrings. I loaded up on silver bangles and rings.  I chose a very colorful shoe that made the whole outfit pop!

My hand BAG also popped, the quilted flap and the silver chain link outline fared well with the entire outfit.

This outfit was so easy to style, very effortless…  one of the great things about fashion, it should be effortless and fun.

Sunday Look: Hello September Mix

Happy Sunday and Hello September!  Can you believe it’s September already?  I’m so excited because I know Fall is coming…  I heard some rumblings about the Almanac, we are suppose to have a stinging Winter (insert eye roll ) LOL!   That would be the best feeling, I think.  You know Winter is my season.
I’m excited to transition my wardrobe. Today’s outfit is a classic to say the least.  Even though I don’t follow the white after Labor Day rule.  I thought I would take advantage of wearing black and white today.  It’s amazing how you can take a simple white straight leg ankle pant paired with a black double keyhole top.  The top has an added touch of lace on the shoulders and a slight high low hem-line.  The two pair very well together.  Black and white can be worn any season.  I love it, and I plan on wearing quite a bit this coming Fall season.

The only jewelry accessory was earrings.  Rounding off this sleek look was black pointy toe pumps.  Trust me, I tried on different shoes and these were the best choice.  I’m so in love with a pointy toe!

My BAG today was a large black tote with studs, the end…  🙂  🙂 .

Sunday Look: Going Green

HAPPY SUNDAY!  Hello guys, it’s hard to believe this month is almost over.  I’m rushing the Fall season BIG TIME…  I’m ready for a wardrobe change.
Today’s outfit… if I’m honest was a bit of a struggle.  Like most of my outfits, I purchased this long tropical/jungle print, ruffled skirt with sash a while ago. This was one of those “I’m not sure purchases”.  I did purchase it as you can see.  When the time came for me to wear it, I hated it!.  I had every intention on pairing it with a white linen pheasant top, hated it, LOL.  I bet I tried this skirt on three or four different times over the last couple of months, I just wasn’t feeling it.
Today I went for it again with the same white top, still wasn’t feeling it.  I’ve had this green top for a while too. I almost have the same type story, but I will spare you 😉 .  I tried it on with the skirt and guess what?  I liked it!  It was the (white top) that was throwing me off all this time.

Not sure what drew me to this skirt in the first place, I suppose it was the print. I love printed fabrics, sometimes they can be tricky to style.  I think the green top really did something for the skirt.  The full pleated layers on the sleeves set off the entire look.  I prevailed 🙂 .

Accessorizing was quite easy, I think because I was so defeated.  I wore emerald green  teardrop earrings.  I decided NOT to wear a necklace, wearing one is not always necessary.  I followed up with a single bangle.  I wore an open-toe black high heel sandal for a little lift.

My BAG today was a faux  green crocodile print handbag.  I totally kept with the green.

Have a great week guys XO…

Sunday Look: Pinstripes and Pleats

Happy Sunday guys! It’s been a crazy couple of weeks. I didn’t get a chance to do a blog post last week. For those that missed my Facebook or Instagram post  here is what I wore:

I want to share with you what I’ve been up for a little over a month now.  I’ve been on this journey of cutting extra sugar from my diet.  As of July 5,  I stopped all sodas, sweet tea, ice cream, candy, cookies, etc.  It was very hard in the beginning, I think I had withdrawals the first week 🙁 .  I’m good now and don’t miss it one bit.  During the process I’ve dropped a few pounds.  Now I need to work on toning my body.  Needless to say, today was a struggle finding something to wear.  I’m sure we all go through ups and downs especially for those of us in our mid fifties to sixties.  The struggle is real 😉  .
Today’s outfit is a sweet little dress that I’ve had for a few years.  I’ve never worn it until today. Love the multi-directional gold pinstripes with a slight shimmer and box pleats, so girly.  The fabric is very lightweight and perfect for summer. This dress would work well into the Fall too.  Add a cardigan or blazer. 🙂  .

I knew instantly how I would accessorize.  I went with a chunky necklace full of large connecting  rings.  A statement necklace for sure!
I chose earrings with the same color highlights of the necklace.  Instead of nude shoes which would have been the first choice, I opted for gold shoes to pick up the pinstripes in the dress.

My BAG today was an Ark shaped Bamboo bag.  It’s such a fun bag to carry.  I get questions as to how I keep things from falling out.  They really don’t, the bamboo sticks are spaced so that it doesn’t.  If you don’t want things moving around you can always use a zipper insert which is what I used today.

Enjoy your week, be blessed. xo
