Sunday Look: Happy New Year

Image result for happy new year 2020"

Happy New Year! Wow, 2020 can you believe it?  Out with the old and in with the new.  Unfortunately I ended my year with the Flu.  I missed Christmas, my favorite holiday of the year.  We weren’t able to get our normal family Christmas Eve photo either.  I was looking forward to showing off our matching shirts.  I want a do-over!  I also missed the last Sunday of the year too 🙁 .   Nothing was going to stop me from celebrating the first Sunday of the year/new decade.

This happens to be my birthday week as well.  I’m so excited for Wednesday, turning 59!  I’m hoping my heath holds and I get to celebrate my way.  Time to start planning for the big 60…Image result for 59"

Today’s look was rather simple.  This is the dress I planned on wearing last Sunday (hence the pop of RED).  This dress reminds me of something out of the sixties.  All I needed was Go-Go Boots and a hair flip.  I chose it for the pop of red. Simple, yet  cute.

Accessorizing was easy, again. I kept it simple by wearing black earrings and black necklace.  I saved the additional pops of red for my shoes and handbag.

Speaking of my BAG, is this not the cutest RED box bag?  A little gift to myself.  I love the faux reptile print look.  It’s Vegan!

Sunday Look: Plaid on Point

Happy Sunday… I hope everyone had a very pleasant Thanksgiving.  We had twelve family and friends at the dinner table, my heart was happy.   As a blogger I missed the opportunity to take advantage of the “Black Friday Sales”.  I’m sure there were some great deals out there I could have shared with you today.  Maybe next year 😉 .  I have to admit I was exhausted.  I must have been really tired, I did not wake up until around 8:50 am this morning.  This is highly unusual for me.  I’m usually up around 7:00 am.  I had no time to plan an outfit.  I picked the first thing I saw and added to it.  I have to admit it was so much easier, I didn’t have time to put a lot of thought into it.   I should do that more often 🙂 .  It’s officially the holiday season guys!  I’m excited for the holiday fashions.  I’m looking forward to seeing what you guys will be wearing this Holiday Season.
For this last Sunday in November, I’m feeling the Fall vibe.  I’ve been itching to wear plaid, It’s trending big-time right now!  I chose this plaid print top with a mix of hounds-tooth (or it chose me) with the look of two tops rolled into one, a twofer.  The bottom half looks like a corset with a tie front.  The top half is a classic shirt with collar and button front which I left unbuttoned.   I paired it with a pair of black palazzo pants.

My accessories were very simple.  I added a layered necklace within the button front.  Big earrings and a wide bracelet.  I wore black patent leather pointy toe heels to give me some height.  I’m  5’4″ and have to stay elevated for most of my pants to not drag the ground 😉 .

My BAG today was playful, a two toned black and white square clutch with YES & NO printed on each side.  Fun, fun, fun…

Style Tip:  This top would also look good with a long pencil skirt -or- A-line maxi skirt.

Sunday Look: Bold Animal Print

Happy Sunday…. You all know I’m smiling from ear to ear.  Why? Because this is my kind of weather.  I’m loving this little cool spell we’re having.  It was so nice to wear something fitting for the season.  I had a little bit of sticker shock this weekend at the dry-cleaners. Keep in mind that I don’t take things to the dry-cleaners very often.  I had no clue what it would cost to dry-clean a light-weight jacket.  I was shocked, when the cashier said $16 See the source image .

Let’s talk about this jacket.  I’ve had it for about five years (that’s why I had to take it to the dry-cleaners).  I love to go shopping in my closets when the seasons change.  I totally forgot I had this jacket.  Can’t remember the last time I wore it either.

Animal  print is such a Fall staple, add black and white to the mix and you have a classic look.  I love the belted look on jackets.  You can tie a giant bow or a knot.  I opted for a knot.  I also like how you can pop the collar if you like.  Black ankle length slacks paired perfectly with the jacket.  Each piece is so simple, put them together and you get a fashionable look 😉 .

I accessorized with a multi strand of white pearls and pearl earrings.
Black patent leather pointy toe heels added a polished finish.

My BAG today was a satin clutch with a whimsical closure,  This bag can be worn as a shoulder bag too!  That’s how I carried it today.

Sunday Look: She In A Graphic Tee

Hello, Happy Sunday…. Welcome to November!  I can’t, November already.  November is a huge month in my family.  We have three birthdays and our wedding anniversary.  Just so happens, our anniversary falls on Thanksgiving this year. Does that mean I still have to cook? LOL…  That would be a yes!  😉 .  Oh! hopefully you remembered to set your clock back 1 hour.  Did you enjoy that extra hour of sleep?

Today’s outfit, OBSESSED!…  I grabbed this colorful graphic tee-shirt while in Las Vegas a few weeks ago.  I had to have it.  It was meant for me, it was the last one in the store my size. I love the portrayal of a positive black women. The graphics are so vibrant. I love her blue eyeliner and yellow glasses.  Her earring really pops with the colorful gemstones applique.  I had to style her with “metallic jeans”.  I gave the tee a little front tuck.  I love the two together.  Did I say “I’m obsessed” ?  because I am…  It was quite the conversation piece today too.

I got questions as to how I was going to have it laundered.  Her earring applique is removable, BUT  I may frame it to preserve!

A graphic tee this bold needs little to no accessories.  I wasn’t about to take anything away from her.  I mimicked her earring with a pair of long dangles with clear gemstones.  Now, let’s talk about the Animal in the room 🙂 .  These animal print pumps (I picked these up in Las Vegas too!)  I knew the moment I saw them I would wear them with this tee.  I love to play with mixed prints.  I mean… ♥♥♥

My BAG today, a cute little black quilted velvet shoulder bag.   I kept it simple so she could be the center of attention.

Sunday Look: A Texas Fall & Florals

Happy Sunday everyone…. Its been a couple of weeks since I’ve had a chance to post.   I’m back even though I’m very late.  I’ve been very busy these last couple of week.  I managed to sneak in a little bit of travel.  A girls trip to Las Vegas 😉 .   It’s amazing how fast times is passing us by.  It will be November in a few days.  I don’t want to think about it.   I wouldn’t be myself if I didn’t comment on the crazy Fall weather we’ve been having.  I was SOOOOO excited when we had our little cool snap a couple of weeks ago.   Today, not so much, but it’s all good.
That leads me to today’s outfit.  I was really struggling this morning, I had my mind set on cooler weather.  Lucky for me I have some hidden gems in the back of my closet.  I purchased this floral jewel tone dress with three-quarter length bell sleeves last year during a Macy’s end of year sale.  The colors are just beautiful, wouldn’t you agree?   I almost forgot about it until this morning.

I knew I wanted to wear a shade of pink today no matter what.  I like to show support for Breast Cancer Awareness month.  The colors in my dress allowed me to do just that through earrings.  The pink balls with added bling set the tone for my other jewelry accessories.  The collar necklace was made for this dress and I didn’t even know it.. LOL!  It was perfect.  I finished my jewelry choices with silver bangles.  But…. wait a minute.  I don’t know how I did it, but I chose the perfect shoe.  A turquoise suede pointy toe high heel.  I was like, WOW! this really looks good with all the beautiful colors.   I’m amazed how things always manage to come together.   I was thrilled with this outcome 🙂  🙂 .

My BAG today, a faux leather shoulder bag with a large faux reptile print.

Sunday Look: Butterfly Maxi

Happy Sunday everyone.  Ever feel like there isn’t enough hours in the day?  I wish we had an extra day to just chill…  Time is moving, we’re moving deeper into the Fall season and I’m loving every minute of it!
Today’s outfit was a crowd pleaser, I got so many complements on this dress.  Funny, I was just saying last week that I didn’t wear very many maxi dresses and ended up wearing another one this week 🙂 .  The butterfly motif makes for a very exotic  look.  The abundance of fabric flows like a butterfly too.   Even though I love all the deep beautiful colors, I wasn’t happy with the overall look of the dress.  I changed the look by doing two little things.  For starters, I pushed the long elastic sleeves midway up my arms, doing this made a “bell-like” sleeve. I also added a wide belt to the elastic waistband.  These two simple changes created a totally different look.  It was that easy 😉 !

The neckline has a very deep “V” where I chose to wear a jeweled collar necklace.  It also has a front center split which mimics the V-neckline.  I decided on a neutral shoe, (pointy toe pumps) so they wouldn’t get lost in all the color.  The wide neutral belt served the same purpose, breaking up the color pallet. Plus, look at my waist… it’s cinched BABY! Colorful earrings and bangles rounded out the accessories.
Style Tip:  Don’t be afraid to use neutrals, they can enhance a bold color pallet.

My BAG today was a neutral tote, I felt like I needed something substantial next to all that colorful goodness 🙂 .

Sunday Look: BOHO Maxi in Plum

Happy Sunday…. Time is really flying by, before you know it will be December (I don’t want to think about that).  All of a sudden seems like Fall is in full bloom.  Everywhere I look I see something or someone dressed for the season.  Last week I talked about the “Jewel Tones” being the perfect Fall season color. It continues…
Today’s outfit is a BOHO maxi dress in a rich plum floral print adorned with bell sleeves, surplice neckline and sash.  It also has a surprising (church appropriate) split.  I don’t wear a lot of maxi dresses but this one will be getting a lot of wear this Fall.  This particular maxi can be dressed down as well.

There are several ways to accessorize a BOHO maxi.  I made a statement.  By statement I mean the “necklace”.  I wanted it to pop.   Instead of doing that with color, I did it with BLING.  Just like last week, my necklace has matching earrings, which I wore.  I always like to pull out a couple of colors from the color pallet.  I wore a shoe mimicking the lightest color found in the dress. Pointy toe and skinny heel of course 😉 .

STYLE TIP: As we get deeper into Fall I can see this maxi dress being worn with long dangling earrings, floppy hat (or not) and a pair of suede booties, so chic!  Hopefully that’s a moment I will capture and share.
My BAG today is one of my favorites, I have this particular bag in four different colors, yep, one for each season! This one picks up on one of the other colors in the dress as well.  This purse has a long chain and it’s actually a shoulder bag.  I have a little trick that I do with my shoulder strap bags. I tie the chain (or strap) inside making it into the perfect handbag.

Sunday Look: Fall Jewel Tones

Happy Sunday! Welcome to FALL, finally!  I couldn’t be more excited!  Now that FALL is here, it’s a good time to bring out the jewel tones.  That’s exactly what I did today!   FALL JEWEL TONES ⇓

Today marks the the first full day of the FALL…. I certainly wanted in on the season wardrobe change.   As I was going through my closet like I do every Sunday, I ran across this dress.  The jewel tones are perfect for Fall.  This dress is a high-low style, 3/4 length split sleeves, relaxed fit “shift dress” with a scoop neckline.  The fabric is very light weight, making it appropriate for those non-cold Fall days.

I wanted my accessories to be rich in jewel tones as well.  I chose a rich blue beaded necklace that fell precisely where I wanted within the neckline.  The necklace is part of a set, I wore the earrings to match and added two colorful glass bangles.  I had a few shoe choices.  I decided on the pointy patent leather blue/black ombre high heel.

My BAG today, a faux suede & vegan leather shoulder bag with patchwork detail and a gold chain shoulder strap.

Sunday Look: Summer Ending Transition

Happy Sunday!  It’s hard to believe Summer is winding down with today being the last Sunday of the Summer season, YAY !  Transition mode is always on my mind every year this time.  We can easily hold onto Summer a little longer around here.  Lucky for us, we have the best of both Summer and Fall.  This is how I choose to transition my wardrobe…
Today I wore an off-the-shoulder mesh top adorned with pink satin ribbon around the bodice and arms. Notice the two little bows made from the same ribbon. This top is older, yet on trend.   You know what I always say,  “A woman’s shoulders is the most beautiful part of her body”  I  simply ♥ adore ♥ this look!  I paired the top with a pleated lined (lace) skirt.  The two make a fabulous fit and flare look.

Style Tip :  To make this into a FORMAL look; simply add a long maxi skirt.  It could be a long pencil skirt or a long fit and flare skirt.  Both would complete a formal look.
A choker is the perfect (jewelry) accessory for off-the-shoulder clothing.  I wore a very simple black choker and black earrings consisting of multiple baubles.  By far the quickest and easiest jewelry accessory choice.   A pointy toe black pump said “wear me”. It didn’t take much convincing 🙂 .

Today’s handbag was a fun clutch made to look like a camera with a playful bow attached to the zipper.  Perfect right? 😉 .

I’m looking forward to all your style transitions, so excited for the change.

Sunday Look: Rainy Sunday in September

Happy Sunday! Hello to a rainy Sunday in September.  Even though it’s still Summer I can feel a change coming especially with the rain.  I’m so excited!  It seems like when September rolls around most folks jump into Fall mode immediately.  Granted some states are experiencing cooler temperatures, not here!  I’ve noticed people wearing darker colors too.  Not me, it’s still Summer and pretty warm…  I will continue my summer wear and color pallet for a little while longer even though I can’t wait for some COOLER weather.
Today’s outfit served two purposes.  It was raining this morning and it’s still hot (summer).  I deviated from what I was planning on wearing because of the rain.  At the last minute I decided to throw on some (dressy) ankle length denim slacks and a colorful sleeveless shell with faux pearl details around the neckline.  Putting these two together allowed me to be somewhat dressier than I would have been in a regular pair of denim jeans.

It’s so easy to take a simple outfit like this and dress it up by adding the perfect accessories.  I played off the color of the shell and the pearl detail by adding long silver/pearl earrings. I loaded up on silver bangles and rings.  I chose a very colorful shoe that made the whole outfit pop!

My hand BAG also popped, the quilted flap and the silver chain link outline fared well with the entire outfit.

This outfit was so easy to style, very effortless…  one of the great things about fashion, it should be effortless and fun.
