Sunday Look: The Christopher John Rogers Dress

Hello guys,  I’m still here in spite of being off a while.  Soooo much has happened since the last time we talked.  The one thing I’m mostly excited about is that I have a new great-grandson.  He arrived April 7, 2021.  This is the first (grand) boy for our family and we couldn’t be more excited.  This little boy has stolen all of our hearts.

What else has been happening you ask?  My granddaughter graduated High School in May.  I was so proud to see her walk across that stage and accept her diploma.  She is on her way to Alabama A&M to further her educational studies.  She will be playing division one Soccer for the University as a goal keeper.  We have partied and celebrated all the occasions!

Let’s talk about the Christopher John Rogers collection that Target showcased.  If you were lucky enough to snag a few pieces, I’m jealous.  I was only able to snag this one dress in my size. Unfortunately, I didn’t shop online when the collection went live.  I received a tip today that another Target may have some of his collection on sale.  I will be running over there as soon as I’m finished blogging.  His entire collection was so COLORFUL and I loved all the puffed sleeves.

This particular dress the Floral Puff Sleeve High Low Dress is so colorful.  One added touch I liked is the self-tie belt to help shape the fullness of the dress. And it has pockets!  This dress screams “Twirl

For accessories, I already had the black earrings with colorful threads that matched every color in the dress.  I added a black necklace for contrast and colorful beaded bracelets.  Open toed sling-backs completed the look.

Church will be starting back full time July 11.  I hope to share my Sunday looks with you more frequently.  Things seem to be getting back to some sort of normalcy.  It has been a rough year and a half for all of us.  I’m looking forward to better days.

Sunday Look: Sunshine

Hello and Happy Sunday… You can really tell Spring has sprung around here. We’ve had some pretty nice days and some hot ones too. It’s time we went full bloom.

Speaking of clothing, I have a couple of stories to share with you. I was in a retail store and saw a dress I really liked that was on the mannequin. I asked a floor attendant if they had it in stock. She said, “let me check” and asked me what size I needed. I said “a LARGE.” She came back with the dress and said, “I pulled you an EXTRA LARGE”. I didn’t ask for an extra large I asked for a LARGE! She pulled me a large and it fit perfectly. My question is this… Should she have pulled the size I asked for in the beginning? Was she calling me fat? I’m not so sure how I felt about it. Am I over exaggerating? What are your thoughts?

Second story. I was in a restaurant and a server dropped his tray and something splashed all over my new dress.  The server was apologetic and got me a hot, wet napkin to clean my dress. A few minutes later the manager comes over to see if I was successful in removing whatever they spilled from my dress. I have one question… What happened to giving the patron something for the mishap? They could have offered to clean my dress. They could have offered me a gift card, desert or something. I got nothing, just an apology. I guess I should be grateful for that! What do you think?

Let’s talk about today’s outfit. I was so excited about this yellow tiered sun dress. I loved the scalloped straps, they differ from your traditional spaghetti straps. I also felt it was appropriate for church, no need for a cover-up. The color is so vivid and screams Spring & Summer. This dress would look good with flat sandals as well.

I chose to accessorize with some fun, white, 3D earrings in the shape of a flower; paired with a flower necklace . I added three bangles for an added layer of color. My shoes really set off the entire outfit. The colorful floral fabric jumped out at you immediately. Such a great look!

My BAG today was also an added pop of color. I chose a green handbag with a gold strap. The green bag pulled out the green in my shoe.

Sunday Look: Jumpsuit Season

Happy Sunday….. Welcome to S*P*R*I*N*G, we’ve finally come full circle. I think the worst is over now and we can all settle in and enjoy what’s to come.

It’s jumpsuit season and shoulder season. So pull out those jumpsuits, rompers and off-the-shoulder outfits. It’s time…

Today’s outfit, a two for one. A jumpsuit that’s off-the-shoulder. This particular one is Springy with all the floral print. I guess I got a three for one 😉 . This jumpsuit features a wide leg, popover bodice and elastic neckline. I purchased this jumpsuit last Spring, but never got to wear it. I plan on shopping my closet more, stay tuned to see what I pull out next 😉 . It’s all new to me if I pull the tag off for the first time!

Today’s accessories were very understated. A jumpsuit this colorful is enough to stand on its own. I kept the earring muted as well as the choker. My first thought was to not wear anything around my neck, which would’ve been perfectly fine. When wearing off-the-shoulder outfits, your shoulders are sometimes enough. I did add two colorful bangles, a must for me 🙂 . I decided to pull out the orange color in the jumpsuit with a deep orange high heel platform sandal.

My BAG today was an orange flap shoulder bag with gold hardware.

This outfit was effortless to style. Style should be effortless.

Sunday Look: It’s A Wrap “Jumpsuit”

Happy Sunday… and Happy St. Patrick’s Day to all that celebrate. Another week in the books. This month is moving quickly. Next week Winter will be over and Spring will hopefully show up in its place. I’m already there in my mind. Pretty sure we have a few more Winter episodes lurking in the background. I’m not waiting, I’ve already started my Spring wardrobe.

Today I chose a floral wrap jumpsuit with a keyhole front. I had to make that keyhole church appropriate by wearing a cami underneath. I love the uniqueness of this jumpsuit. The legs wrap around and to my surprise it gives you a MAJOR split when you sit down, oops! Trust me, I was able to keep it classy 🙂 . I can wear this jumpsuit out on the town and be sexy with my high splits 😉 .

Remember how I always say you should pull out one or two colors in your outfit. My first choice was to pull out the orange or yellow. I went with the yellow (mustard) I’m calling it. I found the perfect mustard color earrings, I felt like I needed to make a statement somewhere. I could have done that with a necklace but that’s always expected “the statement necklace”. I kept the necklace in the same color pallet, but understated. Can we talk about these shoes for a second. They are beyond perfect! The mustard color accented perfectly and the velvet added another texture to the entire outfit.

My BAG, a round bamboo shoulder bag. It was the icing, point, blank, period! It added yet another element of texture. I can’t think of a better choice.

This entire outfit has so many layers of different textures, from the earrings, to the shoes, to the bag. It all just works.

Get ready people, Spring is coming so let the color popping begin!

Sunday Look: Spring Beginnings

Hello and Happy Sunday!  I’ve found myself to be in a bit of a slump.  Sometimes life grabs you by the horns and try to drag you down.

Has this weather been crazy or what?  All this back and forth of cool weather then hot.  I’m over it!  I decided to bring in Spring early with today’s outfit.  Yes, I’m saying bring on Spring.  You all know I LOVE me some cold weather, but the inconsistency of it all…. 🙁 .  I love me some winter clothing.

Today’s outfit was wishful thinking that Spring is well on its way.  I’ve worn this floral print skirt before.  The burst of blooms against the black background makes a colorful statement.  Paired with a burgundy loose fitting top with full pleated layers on the sleeves. Guys, I have this top in three different colors.  I purchased a green one last summer.  At the end of the season last year, I found a black one and this burgundy one I’m wearing today on the clearance rack.  There was no way I could leave them there.  I got two for less than I paid for one 🙂 .

Today’s accessories was non other than rose gold.  Every piece from my earrings, necklace, watch and bangles was rose gold.  I thought it paired superbly with the burgundy.   I couldn’t have chosen a better shoe either.  The burgundy sock booties really set off the entire outfit.  This is probably the last time I will get to wear them this season.  Great way to end this thing they call Winter, LOL !!!

My BAG today was a deep burgundy velvet shoulder bag with gold trim.  Sometimes it’s not good to repeat the same color scheme over and over.  This worked because of the deep burgundy, it stood out on its own.  Love the entire look.  I felt good today!

I didn’t Blog last week so I thought I would include last weeks Sunday Look.  I wore a bright lime green long vest with cream colored slacks and top.  My shoes and bag popped in the same color green.  Loved this outfit too.

Sunday Look: A Texas Fall & Florals

Happy Sunday everyone…. Its been a couple of weeks since I’ve had a chance to post.   I’m back even though I’m very late.  I’ve been very busy these last couple of week.  I managed to sneak in a little bit of travel.  A girls trip to Las Vegas 😉 .   It’s amazing how fast times is passing us by.  It will be November in a few days.  I don’t want to think about it.   I wouldn’t be myself if I didn’t comment on the crazy Fall weather we’ve been having.  I was SOOOOO excited when we had our little cool snap a couple of weeks ago.   Today, not so much, but it’s all good.
That leads me to today’s outfit.  I was really struggling this morning, I had my mind set on cooler weather.  Lucky for me I have some hidden gems in the back of my closet.  I purchased this floral jewel tone dress with three-quarter length bell sleeves last year during a Macy’s end of year sale.  The colors are just beautiful, wouldn’t you agree?   I almost forgot about it until this morning.

I knew I wanted to wear a shade of pink today no matter what.  I like to show support for Breast Cancer Awareness month.  The colors in my dress allowed me to do just that through earrings.  The pink balls with added bling set the tone for my other jewelry accessories.  The collar necklace was made for this dress and I didn’t even know it.. LOL!  It was perfect.  I finished my jewelry choices with silver bangles.  But…. wait a minute.  I don’t know how I did it, but I chose the perfect shoe.  A turquoise suede pointy toe high heel.  I was like, WOW! this really looks good with all the beautiful colors.   I’m amazed how things always manage to come together.   I was thrilled with this outcome 🙂  🙂 .

My BAG today, a faux leather shoulder bag with a large faux reptile print.

Sunday Look: Going Green

HAPPY SUNDAY!  Hello guys, it’s hard to believe this month is almost over.  I’m rushing the Fall season BIG TIME…  I’m ready for a wardrobe change.
Today’s outfit… if I’m honest was a bit of a struggle.  Like most of my outfits, I purchased this long tropical/jungle print, ruffled skirt with sash a while ago. This was one of those “I’m not sure purchases”.  I did purchase it as you can see.  When the time came for me to wear it, I hated it!.  I had every intention on pairing it with a white linen pheasant top, hated it, LOL.  I bet I tried this skirt on three or four different times over the last couple of months, I just wasn’t feeling it.
Today I went for it again with the same white top, still wasn’t feeling it.  I’ve had this green top for a while too. I almost have the same type story, but I will spare you 😉 .  I tried it on with the skirt and guess what?  I liked it!  It was the (white top) that was throwing me off all this time.

Not sure what drew me to this skirt in the first place, I suppose it was the print. I love printed fabrics, sometimes they can be tricky to style.  I think the green top really did something for the skirt.  The full pleated layers on the sleeves set off the entire look.  I prevailed 🙂 .

Accessorizing was quite easy, I think because I was so defeated.  I wore emerald green  teardrop earrings.  I decided NOT to wear a necklace, wearing one is not always necessary.  I followed up with a single bangle.  I wore an open-toe black high heel sandal for a little lift.

My BAG today was a faux  green crocodile print handbag.  I totally kept with the green.

Have a great week guys XO…

Sunday Look: Paperbag Waist Pants

Hello and Happy Sunday!  I hope everyone had a fantastic July 4th holiday.  As you may have noticed I did not post a blog last week.  The main reason, I wore a suit that I had previously blogged two years ago. But! I’m back this week with a new outfit to share.
Some might be saying what are paperbag waist pants?  Paperbag waist pants are loose fitting pants that happen to be very comfortable.  They have a slightly higher waist and tie at the waist making a ruffle detail.  In order to make the waist stand out as intended, you should pair them with a tighter fitting top for a flattering silhouette.

I think I accomplished just that by pairing my paperbag waist pants with a tight fitting floral mesh top.  The colors mimics Summer.  The shimmer of the pant fabric makes them dressier and perfect for Church.  I can also wear these pants to work or a night out on the town.

I accessorized the outfit with tri colored jewelry, it picked up on the colors nicely.  I was so inspired by the top, I decided to go with a floral strappy sandal.

My BAG, I was further inspired by the floral top and shoes that I continued with a beautiful floral clutch.  The details on the bag are FABULOUS!

I hope you’ve learned a little bit about paperbag waist pants and I certainly hope you try a pair. You won’t be disappointed 😉 .

Sunday Look: Hawaiian Burst Jumpsuit

Happy Sunday and Happy Father’s Day!  I’ve seen a lot of posts going around honoring  Dads. That makes me so happy to see them being celebrated.  We celebrated my husband today as well.  My father is no longer with us, I honored him too.
Let’s talk about today’s outfit.  I kept it pretty simple again this week.  I eyed this colorful jumpsuit a couple of months ago and thought it would be a staple in my wardrobe this Spring and Summer.  The wide leg jumpsuit with a floral motif featuring a surplice neckline, spaghetti straps, ruffle trim, a sash and best of all an abstract pattern at the hem.  That set the tone for my “neon” accessories.

I accessorized with that same accent color in my earrings and necklace. I added pastel yellow and green bangles as well.  My neon pumps evened out everything.  That leads me to a Style TipPick out one color in an outfit and play off that color. You will be surprised how well the outfit pops

My BAG today, a pastel green quilted bag with a fold over flap and gold chain.

Sunday Look: Floral Burst Sheath

Happy Sunday and welcome to June.  One thing that’s trending this Spring and leading into Summer are floral prints.  I’m always attracted to floral prints  and end up second guessing my decisions.  It almost happened with today’s outfit.

This dress looked really great on the hanger, I wasn’t sure if it was for me.  For starters it’s a little longer than I normally wear my dresses 😉 .  And I wasn’t really sold on the the floral placement.  But honey, after I put it on….  I’m in See the source image …  The fit is perfect, I’m not concerned about the length at all. The floral placement is perfect after-all, so vibrant. The three quarter length sleeves adds a touch of “classy” that I may have not gotten had it been sleeveless.  The boat neckline is so beautiful, it happens to be one of my two favorite necklines (the other one being off-the- shoulder). I love how it defines my neckline.  I also love the exposed zipper in the back.  I’m so happy I went with my first choice.

A dress like this can stand on its own.  I accessorized with long dangle earrings to draw attention to my neckline.  I’m never without my go to bangle 😉 .  I opted for my favorite pointy toe high heel pumps, I think they really finished the look!

My Bag today a faux reptile print black with gold trim and chain envelop cross-body.  Outfit complete!

Ladies, you see those calf muscles? I got them from wearing high heels 🙂 .
